Why this page….

My name is Gema Diaz I´m 34 years old and this is my Yoga blog;

I previously worked and lived in Madrid for 14 years focusing on Information technology in various different multinational and well-known companies.  With the loss of my grandparents and my job, I finally understood that I needed to go through a transitional phase being environmentally, physically and mentally unmotivated. I decided to unshackle myself from various mundane elements of my day to day life and try something new.

The decision to start attending yoga classes as a way of healing, relaxing and strengthening my inner physical and emotional core was a life changing event I was attending to the yoga class as student during 6 years the most style that I practice before hatha and vinyasa.  The hope and strength I felt through my yoga classes really ignited a passion in my life and the light at the end of the tunnel was getting brighter on a daily basis.

The decision to go deeper into my practice of yoga and other healing skills including homeopathic, acupuncture and Reiki techniques was fully supported by my family. So the step to change my environment and start a new life in South East Asia was an easy decision.

I am blessed so far to have experienced the following training which has given me the opportunity for my own teaching style to develop;

  • Level 1 and level 2 certificate in Reiki in Madrid 2013 and 2014.
  • Yoga Coach School North Bali duration 300 hours teacher Mark Breadner in June 2014
  • Chiang Mai International Thai Massage school level 1 and 2 in Augut 2014.
  • 10 day meditation in Vippasana Northern Cambodia (Battambang)
  • Zenith Yoga Studio in Hanoi Vietnam, learning styles like Iyengar, Hatha and Asthanga with three outstanding teachers Thuong, Willie and Marzena.
  • Phnom Phem Yoga studio developing new skills with with amazing teachers as Alison Hawkins and Oskar Nery
  • Nataraj/Krama Yoga studio in Phnom Phem continue with the flow with  superprofessional teacher as  Lun Piseth, Yan Vannac and Petra Scholz

Furthermore, during my trip around South East Asia I have had the opportunity to teach yoga to beginner students in some of the most spectacular and diverse places in the world, including beaches in Bali, the bustling city of Chiang Mai, the mountains of Pai, the ancient city of Luang Prabang and in front of the Mekong river in Laos.

I never realized when I started my journey in June that my yoga experience, beliefs and understanding would grow so comprehensively and the spark that has been lit has now become my own healing and spiritual journey.  I understand I still have a long way to go and I have so much to learn but my passion to develop my yoga style and technique burns brighter every day.

I feel mentally and physically stronger than I have ever felt before and I still have so much more to look forward to on my next adventure in South Thailand, Australia and New Zeland.
